MoH lists pre-departure swab test requirements

The Ministry of Health (MoH) yesterday released the requirements for pre-departure COVID-19 RT-PCR testing (swab tests) at the Sports Complex of the Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Saleha (RIPAS) Hospital and the Berakas Health Centre.

Travellers who wish to get a pre-departure COVID-19 RT-PCR test must provide their passport or a copy of their passport and the flight itinerary, along with the swab test and registration payment receipts. Payment can be made at Counters A and 15 at RIPAS Hospital.

Passengers are required to get swab tests 72 hours before the time and date of their departure. Any test conducted less than that period will be subject to the usual test time period and the number of swab tests performed.

Travellers must ensure that they know the latest travel advice for their country of destination, and that they can get advice from their airlines and embassies.

The International Air Transport Association (IATA) has published a comprehensive list of travel restrictions imposed by all countries at www.iatatravelcentre.com.

“The MoH advises travellers getting a swab test to do so as early as possible. It will take time to get the swab test results, and the MoH cannot promise the test results will be given immediately if they are taken at the last minute,” the MoH statement added.

The results of the swab test will be sent via SMS. When collecting the swab results, travellers must bring their passports and payment receipt to obtain verification confirmation.

It is also important to make sure that the personal information stated in the verification document is correct.

Travellers are responsible for ensuring that they take the test within a time frame that is appropriate to the requirements of the destination country.
