The Ministry of Finance and Economy (MoFE) through the Treasury Department has initiated a number of actions to tackle challenges encountered during the implementation of TAFIS 2.0, said the ministry in a statement yesterday.
The ministry said that TAFIS 2.0, a new accounting and payment system built on the SAP platform, was implemented in April 1 to coincide with the start of the financial year 2024/2025.
“As with any implementation of a new system, it is expected that some issues and challenges may arise during the system stabilisation period,” said the ministry.
The ministry said that they take all responses and complaints seriously, especially those on untimely payments, while apologising for the inconvenience caused.
The ministry said they are “highly committed to resolving any arising issues to ensure payments are made timely and accurately to recipients and vendors”.
The ministry said they are accelerating training for all ministries and government departments, which began prior to the launch of TAFIS 2.0 and is ongoing, as well as organising intensive courses for purchase order (PO) and payment modules for all ministries and government departments to facilitate their payment processes.
The ministry said a user clinic in MoFE is available to assist ministries and government departments that require hands-on trainings in using TAFIS 2.0 and an ICU payment clinic has been implemented to accelerate payment processes for claims submitted in the previous financial year.
Meanwhile, the ministry urged vendors expecting payment but are not yet registered on the Government Vendor Portal (GVP) to do so as soon as possible.
The ministry said any vendor requiring assistance to register can go to a Vendor Clinic in MoFE for help.
Vendors who have registered on the GVP will be invited to attend a briefing on using the portal for actions such as reviewing POs and submitting invoices. Those whose registration has been unsuccessful are advised to check their email inbox to ensure all enquires are addressed timely, said the ministry.
