MoD, MoHA team up to enforce Building Control Order, 2014

SEVERAL officers and staff from Municipal Boards and District Offices under the Ministry of Home Affairs (MoHA) were yesterday authorised to enforce Section 57 of the Building Control Order, 2014 (BCO) by the Ministry of Development (MoD) through the Authority for Building Control and Construction Industry (ABCi).

Section 57 of the BCO covers offences involving the cleanliness of commercial buildings and homes under the national housing areas.

Authority was also granted to staff of the Housing Development Department, Ministry of Development to enforce Section 23, 24 and 57 of the BCO.

Section 23 of the order covers offences concerning buildings without development approvals, while Section 24 covers offences involving illegal building extensions and renovations.

The officers were handed their authorisation cards by Deputy Permanent Secretary (Construction Industry and Development) at the Ministry of Development Hajah Siti Aidah binti Haji Mohammad in a ceremony held at Indera Pahlawan Hall of the MoD.
