Missing hikers found at Bukit Shahbandar

Two locals, who went missing at the Bukit Shahbandar Recreational Park on Tuesday, were found and rescued by Fire and Rescue Department (FRD) personnel.

The FRD said four firefighters led by ASO Metusin bin Haji Menudin from the Jerudong Fire Station Operation ‘F’ Branch with five firefighters from the Special Squad Unit of Rimba Fire Station Operation ‘C’ Branch led by ABK 658 Hassanuddin rushed after receiving a distress call at 6.58pm.

The victims were found on Hill 7 of Bukit Shahbandar Recreational Park. One had a thigh cramp.

The FRD added that hikers should always check the weather condition before entering forests, avoid venturing alone, and after 6pm, and inform relatives and friends of their plans.

Hikers are also advised to bring along a whistle, mobile phone, torchlight and adequate water supply. For search-and-rescue emergencies, contact the FRD at 995.
