THE Ministry of Education (MoE) will look into the issue of teachers carrying out clerical work in schools.
This was highlighted by Minister of Education Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Hamzah bin Haji Sulaiman, at the morning session of the 15th Legislative Council (LegCo) meeting yesterday morning in response to LegCo member and Penghulu of Mukim Gadong ‘A’ Yang Berhormat Haji Tahamit bin Haji Nudin.
The minister said that according to statistics, the ratio of teachers and students in primary level in Brunei is one to eight and ratio of teachers and students in sixth form level is one to six.
“This ratios are the best in the region and maybe globally,” he added.
“If there is a teacher who is given clerical work, we will look into this matter. There are clerks in each school. If there is a need, we may increase the number of clerks,” he said.
“This matter needs to look into first in detail before taking actions,” he added.
