The Ministry of Primary Resources and Tourism (MPRT) marked Nuzul Al-Quran with a presentation of donations during a ceremony at the Setia Pahlawan Hall of the MPRT building yesterday.
Minister of Primary Resources and Tourism Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Ali bin Apong was the guest of honour. Permanent secretary, deputy permanent secretary, and acting deputy permanent secretary at the MPRT, heads of departments and divisions, officers and staff of the MPRT were also present.
The ceremony commenced with the recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah and verses of Al-Quran by two Year 9 students from Institut Tahfiz Al-Quran Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah, followed by a special talk titled ‘Al-Quran Teman Dunia dan Akhirat’ by Director of the Centre for International and Public Relations of Universiti Islam Sultan Sharif Ali (UNISSA) Haji Samaali bin Haji Adam.
The event continued with the presentation of donations by the guest of honour to 51 orphans of MPRT staff.
The annual ceremony is organised by the Tourism Development Department and aimed to enliven the holy month of Ramadhan while strengthening ties among ministry officers and staff and care for the orphans’ welfare.
