Ministry commemorates older persons with religious event

The Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports (MCYS) through the Community Development Department (JAPEM) held a religious ceremony in celebration of the 32nd International Day of Older Persons yesterday.

A Tahlil ceremony took place at the Royal Mausoleum at Jalan Kubah Makam Diraja along Jalan Tutong for Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Muhammad Jamalul Alam and Al-Marhumah Duli Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Damit binti Al-Marhum Pengiran Bendahara Pengiran Anak Abdul Rahman, the late parents of His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, and for His Majesty’s late son Al-Marhum His Royal Highness Prince Haji ‘Abdul ‘Azim.

Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Nazmi bin Haji Mohamad led the delegation.

This was followed by a Doa Kesyukuran ceremony at the Ash-Shaliheen Mosque.

The ceremony began with mass Asar prayer and continued with the recitation of Ratib Al-Attas.

The recitation of Doa Kesyukuran, and Doa Peliharakan Sultan dan Negara Brunei Darussalam was led by Mosque Affairs Officer Haji Mohammad Izzat Izzudin bin Begawan Pehin Khatib Dato Paduka Haji Emran.

Permanent secretaries at the MCYS and directors and officers from the ministry were also present. Members of senior citizens activity centres and senior citizens associations nationwide also participated.
