THE Ministry of Religious Affairs in collaboration with the Prime Minister’s Office and support from other ministries yesterday held a Khatam Al-Quran ceremony in conjunction with the Nuzul Al-Quran celebration for the year 1439 Hijrah and the holy month of Ramadhan. The religious event was held at the Jame’ ‘Asr Hassanil Bolkiah, Kampong Kiarong.
The event saw the participation of 1,950 officers and staff members from 13 different ministries and departments.
The guests of honour were Minister of Home Affairs Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Kerna Dato Seri Setia (Dr) Haji Awang Abu Bakar bin Haji Apong, Minister of Religious Affairs Pehin Udana Khatib Dato Paduka Seri Setia Ustaz Haji Awang Badaruddin bin Pengarah Dato Paduka Haji Awang Othman, Minister of Primary Resources and Tourism Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Ali bin Haji Apong, Minister of Health Dato Paduka Dr Haji Mohd Isham bin Haji Jaafar, Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office Dato Seri Paduka Awang Haji Abdul Mokti bin Haji Mohd Daud and Minister of Finance II Dato Seri Paduka Dr Awang Haji Mohd Amin Liew bin Abdullah.
The ceremony began with a mass Zohor prayer followed by the recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah led by Senior Religious Officer of Jame’ ‘Asr Hassanil Bolkiah Haji Haris bin Haji Suboh. The ceremony continued with the mass recitation of Al-Quran verses from Surah Adh-Dhuha to Surah An-Nass.
Doa Takhtim was recited by the academic staff from the Institut Tahfiz Al-Quran Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah (ITQSHHB) and the Religious Teachers University College of Seri Begawan (KUPU SB). Pengiran Haji Mohd Norhasib bin Pengiran Haji Bongsu from ITQSHHB then recited Doa Khatam.
The event subsequently saw the recitation of Dikir Marhaban by participants from KUPU SB led by Imam Pengiran Haji Mahmud bin Pengiran Haji Othman. The ceremony ended with the recitation of Doa Peliharakan Sultan dan Negara Brunei Darussalam by Haji Haris.
The event’s objective was to enliven the Nuzul Al-Quran celebration at the national level. It also aimed to encourage civil servants to seek blessings especially during the holy month of Ramadhan.
Also present at the event were deputy ministers, permanent secretaries, deputy permanent secretaries, senior officers from numerous ministries and other invited guests.
