The Royal Brunei Armed Forces (RBAF) held a Majlis Riadah Silaturrahim in conjunction with the completion of the rehabilitation of Bukit Subok Forest Reserve Recreational Park under the RBAF Titian Amal charity programme yesterday.
Minister of Defence II Pehin Datu Lailaraja Major General (Rtd) Dato Paduka Seri Haji Awang Halbi bin Haji Mohd Yussof and Minister of Foreign Affairs II Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Erywan bin Pehin Datu Pekerma Jaya Haji Mohd Yusof participated in a 1.5-kilometre hike to examine the park’s upgraded infrastructures.
They were joined by Legislative Council member and Mukim Kota Batu Penghulu Yang Berhormat Naim bin Haji Kamis, RBAF Commander Major General (U) Dato Seri Pahlawan Haji Hamzah bin Haji Sahat, permanent secretaries at the Ministry of Defence (MinDef) and Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA), Joint Force Commander and service commanders, deputy permanent secretaries at the MinDef and MFA, Kampong Subok Village Head, senior officials from both ministries and Perbadanan Tabung Amanah Islam Brunei (TAIB).
The programme began with the recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah and prayer by RBAF Deputy Head of Religious Department (JAMA’AT) Major Ariffin bin Amit @ Hamid, followed by the safety and trekking route briefing by Commanding Officer, Combat Engineer Squadron, Support Battalion of the Royal Brunei Land Force (RBLF) Major Md Rafie bin Haji Abdul Wahid.
While engaging in a healthy activity, the social event also aimed at strengthening cooperative ties between all stakeholders.
The rehabilitation of Bukit Subok Forest Reserve Recreational Park, which started last November, was conducted by the Combat Engineer Squadron, Support Battalion of the RBLF and the Assault Pioneer Platoon from the infantry battalions in collaboration with the MFA and Perbadanan TAIB. It was completed on January 7.
