Ministerial staff recognised for loyal service

Over 100 officers and staff from the Ministry of Religious Affairs (MoRA), the Ministry of Health (MoH) and the Ministry of Transport and Infocommunications (MTIC) received Pingat Kerja Lama (PKL) yesterday in conjunction with the 77th birthday celebration of His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam.

Minister of Religious Affairs Pehin Udana Khatib Dato Paduka Seri Setia Ustaz Haji Awang Badaruddin bin Pengarah Dato Paduka Haji Awang Othman presented 53 PKL to officers and staff from eight departments at the MoRA.

Deputy Minister of Religious Affairs Pengiran Dato Seri Paduka Haji Mohd Tashim bin Pengiran Haji Hassan was also in attendance.

Besides serving the government for 20 years, recipients of the honorary medals must also possess good service track record, possess commendable characters and personality with excellent job performance.

Islamic Da’wah Centre officer Haslinda binti Haji Ismail told the Bulletin she was grateful to His Majesty for the award. “The award is very meaningful to us and the recognition highly appreciated,” she said.

She also reminisced, “I remember, sometimes, there were ups and downs working in the department, especially when difficulties arose such as facing deadlines. Teamwork and support became crucial and brainstorming with our superior was paramount in overcoming obstacles promptly.”

Meanwhile, 41 officers and staff of the MoH received PKL from Minister of Health Dato Seri Setia Dr Haji Mohammad Isham bin Haji Jaafar in a ceremony at MoH’s Al-‘Afiah Hall.

Permanent Secretary at the MoH Haji Maswadi bin Haji Mohsin; Deputy Permanent Secretary (Professional) at the MoH Dr Ang Swee Hui; Acting Deputy Permanent Secretary (Policy and Management) at the MoH Dr Hajah Anie Haryani binti Haji Abdul Rahman and Acting Director General of Medical and Health Services Dr Hajah Lailawati binti Haji Jumat were also in attendance.

At the MTIC, 14 officers and staff received PKL comprising six from the Department of Civil Aviation, one from the Brunei Darussalam Metrological Department, three from the Land Transport Department and four from the Postal Services Department.
