Minister swaps ideas with Singapore leaders

Minister of Health Dato Seri Setia Dr Haji Mohd Isham bin Haji Jaafar made a working visit to Singapore from February 8 to 11, under the S R Nathan Fellowship programme.

The minister paid courtesy calls to several Singaporean leaders including Senior Minister and Coordinating Minister for National Security Teo Chee Hean, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Finance Lawrence Wong, Minister for Foreign Affairs Dr Vivian Balakrishnan and Minister for Health Ong Ye Kung.

According to the Ministry of Health, Dato Seri Setia Dr Haji Mohd Isham and the Singaporean leaders exchanged ideas, views and experiences related to current issues and discussed regional and international developments, in addition to welcoming bilateral cooperation in areas of mutual interest.

Also present during the courtesy visits was High Commissioner of Brunei Darussalam to Singapore Dato Paduka Haji Sidek bin Ali.

The minister also visited Saw Swee Hock School of Public Health, Health Promotion Board, Kallang Polyclinic, Singapore Food Agency and Singapore’s Ministry of Health.The minister was briefed on the functions of each institution, the programme on the prevention of non-communicable diseases, national screening programme, digital health technology, healthcare spending and food safety.

Dato Seri Setia Dr Haji Mohd Isham also met with several Bruneians sent by the government for treatment in Singapore.

S R Nathan Fellowship is a programme that enables leaders to hold dialogues and exchange ideas, with Singaporean leaders and senior government officials.
