MINISTER of Education Dato Paduka Awang Haji Hamzah bin Haji Sulaiman yesterday received a courtesy call from Director-General of the Islamic Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ISESCO) Dr Abdulaziz Othman Altwaijri based in Rabat, Morocco, who is currently on a working visit to Brunei.
During the courtesy call at the Ministry of Education (MoE), Dr Abdulaziz highlighted the strong relationship between ISESCO and Brunei Darussalam through the MoE as the focal point of ISESCO in Brunei Darussalam.
He also discussed potential areas of cooperation to be explored between ISESCO and Brunei Darussalam in science and technology, halal industry, renewable energy and 21st Century education focussing on school leaders and quality teachers.
Following the courtesy call, Dr Abdulaziz visited Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBD) to discuss on future collaboration in higher education and toured the UBD Botanical Research Centre.
As part of his visit, the director-general will also be visiting Universiti Islam Sultan Sharif Ali (UNISSA) and Universiti Teknologi Brunei (UTB) as well as the Brunei History Centre and Royal Regalia Museum.
Through this visit, Dr Abdulaziz aims to strengthen the existing partnership and explore further collaboration between ISESCO and Brunei Darussalam.
Deputy Minister of Education Datin Paduka Dr Hajah Romaizah binti Haji Mohd Salleh and Acting Permanent Secretary at the MoE Dr Haji Azman bin Ahmad were also present during the courtesy call.
