The Brunei Darussalam Counselling Association (PERKAB) 3rd National Counselling Convention 2019, which began yesterday, focusses on the current issues and challenges in shaping a community that is able to face global challenges.
Organised by PERKAB, the event was officiated by Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports Major General (Rtd) Dato Paduka Seri Awang Haji Aminuddin Ihsan bin Pehin Orang Kaya Saiful Mulok Dato Seri Paduka Haji Abidin at the Civil Service Institute (IPA) in Rimba, Gadong.
Themed Pengupayaan Ummah: Mendepani Isu dan Cabaran Masa Kini ( Ummah Capabilities: Facing Current Issues and Challenges) the two-day convention is attended by counselling practitioners, psychologists and mental health professionals in the country to increase knowledge by sharing the latest professional and scientific information.
Keynote address speakers invited to present working papers were President of PERKAMA International, Malaysia, Dato’ Abdul Halim bin Mohd Hussin; representative from Psychology Counselling, Cluster and Social Science Education, Open University Malaysia, Profesor Datuk Dr Mohd Tajudin bin Md Ninggal; Senior Lecturer from the Education and Modern Language Studies Faculty at Universiti Utara, Malaysia, Dr Azizah binti Abdullah, and Narcotics Officer I at the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB), Prime Minister’s Office Siti Norhadinah binti Haji Marsal.
The convention’s participants comprises government officers, as well as lecturers and undergraduates, teachers and religious teachers, military police, parents, graduates, non-governmental organisation (NGO) members and the public.
The convention also features a workshop and a forum.
