‘The Junction’ Retail Entrepreneurship programme, a government initiative to encourage local participation within the retail industry that also hopes to reduce local unemployment was launched yesterday by Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office and Minister of Finance and Economy II Dato Seri Setia Dr Awang Haji Mohd Amin Liew bin Abdullah at the Korner of Armada Tungku Estate.
The event coincided with the opening of three ‘The Junction’ convenience stores simultaneously in separate locations.
The other The Junction convenience stores are situated at BIBD Connects Lambak and at Mentiri Community Hall.
Deputy Minister of Finance and Economy (Economy) and Chairman of Ghanim International Corporation Dato Seri Paduka Dr Haji Abdul Manaf bin Haji Metussin, Deputy Minister of Finance and Economy (Fiscal) Dato Seri Paduka Awang Haji Ahmaddin bin Haji Abdul Rahman, Deputy Minister of Development Dato Seri Paduka Ar Haji Marzuke bin Haji Mohsin and Permanent Secretary (Investment) at the Ministry of Finance and Economy and Chief Executive Officer of Darussalam Assets Haji Khairuddin bin Haji Abdul Hamid as well as senior officials from various ministries and local retail industry were present.
Under Ghanim International Corporation Sdn Bhd, The Junction positioned as Brunei’s one-stop convenience store franchise as an expansion of The Junction Kiosk that has been successfully operating since 2018 at various locations including the Ministry of Finance and Economy, the Ministry of Health and Brunei International Airport.
Prior to the launch, Dato Seri Setia Dr Awang Haji Mohd Amin Liew handed over mock keys to the three The Junction franchisees: Ariyazmi bin Ibrahim for The Junction @ the Korner of Tungku Armada Estate, MD Herman Ardini bin Abdullah Garisu @ Gerry Hermaney Jr Garisu for The Junction @ BIBD Connects Lambak and Haji Mohammad Azim Rafiuddin bin Abdullah for The Junction @ Mentiri Community Hall.
