The Government of His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam emphasises the whole-of-nation approach in planning and implementing actions to drive national progress and to develop capacity by working hand-in-hand with relevant stakeholders from government and non-government agencies.

Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office Dato Seri Setia Haji Awang Abdul Mokti bin Haji Mohd Daud highlighted this at a certificate presentation ceremony for participants of the Leadership and Governance Seminar, under the ‘Bangkit Bersama’ programme initiated by the Itqan Group that comes under the 32nd Executive Development Programme for Middle Management Officers (EDPMMO).

The minister expressed confidence that the efforts and initiatives to shape a society that is independent and able to build itself, the spirit of entrepreneurship and the values of togetherness to support each other, are in line with the core values of Maqasid Syariah in maintaining religion, life, health, intellect and lineage.

He also added that the cooperation and contribution provided will contribute towards strengthening the identity of the Single Mothers Movement Association (PGIT) as independent and skilled mothers.

“In tandem with Bangkit Bersama programme’s aspirations, it is hoped more parties will be able to work together with PGIT to enhance the skill capacity of single mothers in various fields.

“Although this programme is on a small scale, it shows effective synergy and delivers great impact through the application of strong soft values to get mardhatillah – that is the pleasure of Allah the Almighty. This is in accordance with Allah the Almighty’s Firman in verse 2 of Surah Al-Ma’idah – ‘And help one another in virtue and piety and do not help one another in sin and enmity (violating the laws of Allah the Almighty). And be pious to Allah. Indeed, Allah is severe in punishment,’” the minister said.

Dato Seri Setia Haji Awang Abdul Mokti called on EDPMMO participants, past and present, as well as those from other groups, to better themselves in terms of mindset, experience and competence to lead the direction of their respective courses and fulfill the succession planning desires at their offices or ministries.

The minister expressed gratitude to the Itqan Group for their hard work in implementing the Bangkit Bersama programme, especially in empowering PGIT and single mothers, adding that “this effort will trigger a change in social perceptions of single mothers, in general”.

He also expressed hopes the initiative will inspire policymakers, non-governmental associations and the public to follow suite, while at the same time, serve as a starting point for the collective to contribute equally as community builders, the core of economic strength, and directly to Brunei Vision 2035.
