Minister in Singapore for international conference

A delegation from the Ministry of Religious Affairs (MoRA) led by Minister of Religious Affairs Pehin Udana Khatib Dato Paduka Seri Setia Ustaz Haji Awang Badaruddin bin Pengarah Dato Paduka Haji Awang Othman left for Singapore to attend the International Conference on Communities of Success (ICCOS) yesterday.

ICCOS, which began yesterday and continues today, is organised by the Singapore Islamic Religious Council (MUIS) themed ‘Citizens Contributor, Dynamic Institution’.

The conference serves as a platform for religious and society leaders to learn from other Muslim communities their efforts in facing contemporary issues.

Singapore Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong delivered the keynote address.

A knowledge sharing session by Singapore State Mufti Dr Nazirudin Mohd Nasir focussed on the Singapore Muslim community.

The international conference is also attended by officers from Malaysia, Indonesia and Singapore.

The Sultanate’s participation in the conference aims to uphold strong ties and cooperation between Brunei Darussalam and Singapore especially between MoRA and MUIS.

Joining the minister were Permanent Secretary at the MoRA Haji Mohammad Rosli bin Haji Ibrahim; Senior Special Duties Officer, Head of Public Relations, International and MABIMS Haji Mohammad Albi bin Haji Ibrahim, Special Duties Officer Grade 1 of Public Relations, International and MABIMS at the MoRA Pengiran Muhammad Azrin bin Pengiran Jarail, as well as Religious Officer at the MoRA Haji Razali bin Haji Mahal.

Present at the airport to bid farewell were Deputy Minister of Religious Affairs Pengiran Dato Seri Paduka Haji Mohd Tashim bin Pengiran Haji Hassan and Deputy Permanent Secretary (Policy and Religious) at the MoRA Haji Mohd Serudin bin Haji Timbang, along with senior officers.
