Minister calls for more volunteers to join COVID-19 fight

Minister of Health Dato Seri Setia Dr Haji Mohd Isham bin Haji Jaafar yesterday called on the public to come forward and play a vital role to help the government’s efforts in controlling the spread of COVID-19. The minister shared that anyone who volunteers will be placed to work in a safe and low risk areas in accordance with their skills.

Members of the public interested in becoming volunteers can contact 7455109, he told the daily press conference yesterday.

Meanwhile on behalf of the Ministry of Health, Dato Seri Setia Dr Haji Mohd Isham expressed appreciation to all involved in controlling the spread of the COVID-19 infection, especially the health volunteers.

“The service and sacrifice in terms of energy, time, hard work as well as properties are greatly appreciated.

“There are currently 260 government officers and staff, 92 health volunteers, 105 medical officers and nurses from the private sectors and those who have retired currently serving as volunteers in various facilities and performing various specific tasks.

“This number does not include volunteers managed by the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports.”
