A Khatam Al-Quran and Doa Kesyukuran ceremony in conjunction with the 34th Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBD) convocation was held at the UBD Mosque yesterday.
A total of 344 Muslim students (72 male and 272 female) participated in the Khatam Al-Quran.
Minister of Education cum guest of honour Datin Seri Setia Dr Hajah Romaizah binti Haji Mohd Salleh attended the event alongside UBD Vice-Chancellor Dr Hazri bin Haji Kifle.
The event is held annually as a show of gratitude for prospective UBD graduates. It is organised by the Student Affairs Division through the Spirituality and Community Service Unit in collaboration with the UBD Student Association.
The ceremony is the pinnacle of success for those who have, since December 2021, followed the Al-Quran programme organised by the Spirituality and Community Service Unit. The programme serves as a platform to produce students who are Al-Quran literate, and at the same time, realise the vision of becoming a Zikir Nation.
The ceremony was preceded by the recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah, Surah Adh-Dhuhaa to Surah Al-Masad, and a Takhtim reading.
A participant recited the Doa Khatam, before the event continued with the guest of honour presenting souvenirs and certificates to the guide teachers and Khatam participants.
The UBD Dikir, Nasyid and Tausyeh Club performed the Dikir Marhaban.
The ceremony concluded with a Doa Kesyukuran recited by Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Hajah Saleha Mosque Affairs Officer Mohammad Adham bin Hashim.
Permanent Secretary (Higher Education) at the Ministry of Education Dr Haji Azman bin Ahmad, Permanent Secretary (Core Education) at the Ministry of Education Dr Shamsiah Zuraini Kanchanawati binti Haji Tajuddin, deans, directors, lecturers and officers of UBD also attended.
