Menglait students get lessons in patriotism

A HUNDRED and thirty Year 7 students and teachers from Menglait Secondary School attended a nationhood briefing programme organised by the Information Department at the school’s multi-purpose hall yesterday.

Head of the Nationhood Unit at the Information Department Hajah Hamsah binti Datu Kerna Haji Jaya gave the briefing.

The briefing focussed on the importance of the correct procedures of hoisting and lowering the national flag and the history, meaning and concept behind the national flag and national anthem.

The nationhood briefing covered topics such as Our Sovereign, Appreciation of the National Flag and National Anthem.

The event saw video presentations titled Kibarkanlah Dengan Megah Bendera Negara, Semarak Pengibaran Bendera Negara and an animation video titled Tatacara Menaikkan Bendera Negara.

The briefing was part of an ongoing programme by the Information Department at the Prime Minister’s Office to instil a sense of patriotism among students as well as to develop respect and appreciation towards their country, religion and the monarchy.

Students participated in quizzes and received goodie bags from the Information Department.
