    Meeting highlights initiatives, work plan under ASEAN education sector

    Permanent Secretary (Core Education) at the Ministry of Education (MoE) Dr Shamsiah Zuraini Kanchanawati binti Haji Tajuddin attended the 17th ASEAN Senior Officials Meeting on Education (SOM-ED), 12th ASEAN Plus Three Senior Officials Meeting on Education (SOM-ED+3) and the 7th East Asia Summit Senior Officials’ Meeting (EAS SOM-ED) from Tuesday to yesterday in Hanoi, Vietnam.

    The meetings were hosted by the Ministry of Education and Training Vietnam in its capacity as chair of the meeting for this year. The meeting carried the theme ‘Joint Efforts to Reimagine Learning and Building Resilience of Education Systems in ASEAN and Beyond in the New Context’.

    Senior officials were updated on the development of initiatives, work plan and activities under the education sector of ASEAN carried out by member countries and organisations.

    Dr Shamsiah Zuraini Kanchanawati also briefed the meeting on current developments of the Working Group on Student Mobility and Quality Assurance of Higher Education among ASEAN Plus Three Countries (APTWG).

    The meetings also deliberated on the documents to be presented at the ministerial level meetings due to be held today and tomorrow in Hanoi.

    Accompanying the permanent secretary were officials from the MoE.
