A DELEGATION from the Sub-Regional Cooperation between Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) member states in Southeast Asian Cooperation (SEACO) held a meeting with the National Chamber of Commerce and Industry Brunei Darussalam (NCCIBD) recently to discuss the formation of a regional economic forum with five OIC member states from the South and Southeast Asian region, including Bangladesh and Brunei Darussalam.
A presentation on the meeting agenda was delivered by Salahuddin Kasem Khan, Executive Chairman of the SEACO Foundation Member, International Advisory Panel, World Islamic Economic Forum (WIEF).
Upon arrival at the NCCIBD, High Commissioner of Bangladesh to Brunei Darussalam Air Marshal (Rtd) Mahmud Hussain and SEACO Executive Chairman Salahuddin Kasem Khan were received by the NCCIBD President Haji Mohammad Hanafi bin Pehin Orang Kaya Digadong Seri Diraja Dato Laila Utama Awang Haji Abdul Rahman and NCCIBD Deputy President Haji Abdul Saman bin Haji Ahmad.
Besides calling at the NCCIBD, the delegation also visited the Ministry of Finance and Economy, DARe (Darussalam Enterprise) and the Chinese Chamber of Commerce during their stay in the country.
Prime Minister of Bangladesh Sheikh Hasina on April 22 this year proposed the formation of a regional economic forum with five OIC member states from the South and Southeast Asian region during her audience with His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam.
