THE Ministry of Primary Resources and Tourism (MPRT) held a bilateral meeting with the People’s Republic of Bangladesh’s Ministry of Agriculture at The Empire Hotel & Country Club in Jerudong recently.
During the bilateral meeting, Minister of Primary Resources and Tourism Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Ali bin Haji Apong welcomed Minister for Agriculture of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh Muhammad Abdur Razzaque, State Minister of Fisheries and Livestock of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh Md Ashraf Ali Khan Khasru, and their delegation to Brunei Darussalam.
It was held in conjunction with the three-day official visit of the Prime Minister of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh Sheikh Hasina to Brunei Darussalam.
According to a press release from the MPRT, the bilateral meeting with the Ministry of Agriculture of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh, and the Ministry of Fisheries and Livestock of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh would serve as a platform to further strengthen and enhance cooperation between Brunei Darussalam and Bangladesh in the field of agriculture, and in the field of fisheries and livestock for the benefit of both countries.
In general, the meeting discussed on possible areas of cooperation between the two sides, covering among others, collaboration in the area of paddy, water resource management and irrigation system as well as on investment opportunities in the agriculture, aquaculture industries as well as in the livestock industries.
Also present were Permanent Secretary at the MPRT; Deputy Permanent Secretary at the MPRT; the Director of Agriculture and Agrifood; the Director of Fisheries and senior officers from the Department of Agriculture and Agrifood and the Department of Fisheries of the Ministry of Primary Resources and Tourism, Brunei Darussalam.
The press release added that the ministry looks forward to broaden and deepen its trade relations as well as to share in the mutual benefits with the People’s Republic of Bangladesh.
