The Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports (MCYS) expanded its network of strategic partners in various fields through the signing of a Memorandum of Understandings (MoUs) with public and private higher education institutions at the Lecture Hall of the Hassanal Bolkiah National Stadium yesterday.
The higher education institutions are Universiti Islam Sultan Sharif Ali (UNISSA), Universiti Teknologi Brunei (UTB), Religious Teachers University College of Seri Begawan (KUPU SB) and Kolej International Graduate Studies (IGS).
Guest of honour, Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports Major General (Rtd) Dato Paduka Seri Haji Aminuddin Ihsan bin Pehin Orang Kaya Saiful Mulok Dato Seri Paduka Haji Abidin witnessed the signing.
Signing on behalf of MCYS was Permanent Secretary at the MCYS Pengiran Haji Mohd Hasnan bin Pengiran Haji Ali Hassan, while representing the higher education institutions were UNISSA Rector Dr Haji Norarfan bin Haji Zainal, UTB Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr Hajah Zohrah binti Haji Sulaiman, KUPU SB Ra’es Dr Haji Adanan bin Haji Basar, and Kolej IGS Chief Executive Officer Dr Azaharaini bin Haji Mohd Jamil.
Pengiran Haji Mohd Hasnan said the MoUs include cooperation in the implementation of research studies; access to library materials and resources; and the formation of digital technology, information software and innovation.
Cooperation in capacity building programmes and job or industry placements are also included as well as youth, community and social programmes in enhancing independence; conducting socio-economic development activities through entrepreneurship; and cooperation in other areas mutually agreed upon by both parties, he added.
The MoUs are in line with the strategic objectives contained in the MCYS Strategic Plan 2020-2024 Enhancing Strategic Cooperation through a Nationwide Approach.
Also present during the event were permanent secretaries, directors, heads of departments, and senior officers from the MCYS as well as senior officers from the four higher education institutions.
