MCYS says thank you to 42 retirees

CERTIFICATES and souvenirs were presented to 42 officers and staff from the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports (MCYS) and its departments who retired in 2018 in a ceremony at the Indoor Stadium in Berakas yesterday.

The certificates and souvenirs were presented by Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports Major General (Rtd) Dato Paduka Seri Awang Haji Aminuddin Ihsan bin Pehin Orang Kaya Saiful Mulok Dato Seri Paduka Haji Abidin.

Permanent Secretary (Administration, Finance and Estate) at the MCYS Pengiran Mohd Amirrizal bin Pengiran Haji Mahmud expressed appreciation to the retirees for their contributions and sacrifices throughout their dedicated service at the ministry and its departments.

The permanent secretary shared that out of the 42 retirees, six are from the MCYS, 11 are from the Youth and Sports Department, 16 are from the Language and Literature Bureau, three are from the Brunei History Centre, three are from the Department of Museums and three are from the Community Development Department.

He noted that retirement is not an ending point for a person to contribute to national development, and highlighted that they are still needed in together developing community, people, religion and country. He also encouraged them to engage in organisations, associations, clubs, NGOs, mukim and village consultative councils and volunteerism in working together to develop the nation for Vision 2035.

In addition to the presentation of certificates and souvenirs to retirees, the event also featured the Hari Raya Aidilfitri celebration of the MCYS.

Speaking on the celebration, the permanent secretary said that the event provides the opportunity for all in attendance to strengthen ties of ukhwah, brotherhood and solidarity as colleagues in the organisation.

He shared that, to enliven the MCYS Hari Raya celebration, committee members also invited youth and sport associations, NGOs, clubs and strategic partners as a token of appreciation and to remember the cooperation and assistance that has been given up to now.

He added that this kind of cooperation should be continued, intensified and enhanced.

Also present were members of the Legislative Council as well as permanent secretaries, deputy permanent secretaries, special duties officers, directors, heads of departments, senior officers from the MCYS and its departments.
