MCYS marks 35th National Day

THE Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports (MCYS) held a Khatam Al-Quran ceremony to mark the 35th National Day at the ministry’s building on Thursday.

The guest of honour was Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports Major General (Rtd) Dato Paduka Seri Awang Haji Aminuddin Ihsan bin Pehin Orang Kaya Saiful Mulok Dato Seri Paduka Haji Abidin.

Also present were Permanent Secretary at the MCYS Datin Paduka Dr Hajah Norlila binti Dato Paduka Haji Abdul Jalil, department heads, senior officers and officers from the ministry and its departments.

Students from Pusat Bahagia and Youth Development Centre, National Service Alumni and members of Lumapas Youth Association (PERLU) and Meraih Berkah Association also attended.

The ceremony commenced with the recitation of verses of Surah Ibrahim and Surah Saba by i-Ready Internship Officer at the MCYS Ayadey Hazawallah bin Haji Md Zain, while the meaning of the verses were narrated by Grade I Administration Officer at the Department of Youth and Sports Muhd Ihsan Sabri bin Haji Abd Manap.

This was followed with the Khatam Al-Quran ceremony and Dikir Marhaban.

The minister led the recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah to begin the Takhtim ceremony.

The Doa Takhtim was recited by Researcher and Special Translator at the Brunei History Centre Ustaz Dr Haji Abd Kadir bin Haji Mohammad. The ceremony concluded with the recitation of Doa Allah Peliharakan Sultan dan Negara by Al-Quran teacher at the Department of Youth and Sports Ustaz Abdul Halim bin Haji Fuad.

The ceremony served to instil a love for Al-Quran in the participants, strengthen Al-Quran literacy among them, and express gratitude to Allah the Almighty for the peace and tranquility enjoyed by the nation.

The ceremony was also one of the efforts to instil patriotism among ministerial officers.
