MBS aims to collect 1,000 books through donation campaign

KOTA KINABALU (Bernama) – The Sabah Youth Council (MBS) aims to collect 1,000 books to be placed at the Kepayan Youth Arena Mini Library through its book donation campaign which kicked off on December 20 last year.

As of Tuesday, 338 books covering topics on education, economics, history, religion and novels in Malay and English, had been donated by various parties, including the Sabah State Library.

MBS President Ahmad Farid Sainuri said the opening of the mini library was one of the initiatives taken by the council to inculcate reading culture among youths, especially MBS members who numbered about 200,000, in the state.

He said those who wanted to make a donation could drop the books at the collection centre at the Winley Kepayan Youth Arena from Monday to Friday from 9am to 5pm before January 31.

If the book collection for the library has been reached, the surplus books would be distributed to youth associations in rural areas to enable them to create a reading corner at their respective areas, he told Bernama yesterday.
