Five mosques are set to recite Selawat Tafrijiyyah simultaneously, with Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Mosque in the capital as the focal point, as part of a nationwide event tomorrow to mark the National Level Nuzul Al-Quran celebration for 1443 Hijrah.

This was said by State Mufti Pehin Datu Seri Maharaja Dato Paduka Seri Setia (Dr) Ustaz Haji Awang Abdul Aziz bin Juned during a special talk on Radio Television Brunei (RTB) yesterday.

“We are targetting the recitation of 4,444 Selawat, the number that has been proven to be efficacious by the people of the past,” he said, adding that “if every mosque with capacity of 500 congregants and above will recite Selawat 11 times, it will exceed the expected number of 4,444”.

The State Mufti said by reciting Selawat topped with assistance from Prophet Muhammad (pbuh), Allah the Almighty will bless the nation and free the people from sorrow, illnesses, disasters and evil plans of the world.

“Muslims are very fortunate to be anchored by Al-Quran and As-Sunnah to keep us from drifting astray,” he said. “Al-Quran is the pathway to cures and blessings. Likewise, Al-Hadith provides ways to keep troubles at bay.”

The State Mufti added, “Allah the Almighty will open 30 doors of wishes in this life and 70 more in the days of hereafter for those who recite Selawat 100 times a day.”

By reciting Selawat towards Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) 4,444 times or more, Muslims will gain assistance, peace of mind, rewards, vast wealth and forgiveness from Allah the Almighty, said Pehin Datu Seri Maharaja Dato Paduka Seri Setia (Dr) Ustaz Haji Awang Abdul Aziz.

Most importantly, the State Mufti added, “Allah the Almighty will grant us blessings in terms of sustenance, good health, happiness and security while keeping us from the harm of COVID-19.”
