Man remanded for allegedly hiring men for sex, stealing

A permanent resident man was indicted in the Magistrate’s Court yesterday for hiring two other men for sexual services.

Chief Magistrate Pengiran Masni binti Pengiran Haji Bahar did not record any pleas and ordered Md As-Shaliheen bin Abdul Quddus Ong @ Alister Ong Wee Yee to be remanded for further investigations.

DPP Ahmad Firdaus Mohammad carried out the prosecution.

The defendant allegedly obtained the sexual services of the first victim promising him payment, and then stole three pieces of his clothing at Kampong Tanah Jambu just before midnight on December 18, 2019.

The defendant also allegedly obtained the sexual services of the second victim on December 25, 2019 sometime between 1am-3am, promising him payment and stole a Samsung S6 mobile phone and three pieces of clothing.

The theft charges each carry penalties of three years’ jail, a fine or both. The other charges carry penalties of a year’s imprisonment each, and a fine ranging between BND1,000 and BND5,000.

For second or subsequent convictions of the same charges, penalties will be three years’ jail, and fines ranging between BND2,000 and BND10,000.

The case was adjourned to January 8, 2020.
