A 25-year-old local man was killed in a single-vehicle crash near the Damuan Park on Jalan Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Saleha early yesterday morning.

Personnel from the Central Police Station in Bandar Seri Begawan were called to the scene of the collision at 5.37am, according to the Royal Brunei Police Force (RBPF).

Fire and Rescue Department (FRD) personnel were also deployed to remove the victim from the mangled remains of the vehicle.

The man was rushed to the Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Saleha (RIPAS) Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The cause of the crash is being examined. Preliminary investigations indicate that it was a self-accident.

The RBPF reminded motorists to prioritise road safety by keeping within the designated speed limits, as well as avoiding drugs and alcohol, which can impair concentration.

Drivers and passengers are also urged to buckle up, to reduce the risk of critical injury in a collision.
