An Indonesian man, who overstayed in the Sultanate for 5,034 days, was sentenced to 14 months’ jail and four whippings by the Magistrate’s Court yesterday.
Immigration Prosecutor Adi Yusra bin Haji Adanan informed Magistrate Nur Eleana binti Dato Seri Paduka Haji Hairol Arni that 40-year-old Retno Setiawan was arrested by Immigration enforcement officers during an inspection of living quarters in Kampong Tanjung Bunut at 1.26am on January 12.
The man’s employment pass was found to have expired on April 1, 2009.
