The Intermediate Court yesterday sentenced a local man to imprisonment of four years and two weeks, along with two strokes of the cane, for committing theft and other related offences.
Judge Radin Safiee bin Radin Mas Basiuni heard from Deputy Public Prosecutor Aeny Zullizam that Muhammad Rejab bin Haji Ramli, 29, had stolen a grass-cutter and a hedge-trimmer from a residence at Kampong Rimba, sometime between July 22 and 23.
The defendant also committed housebreaking by night for theft at another residence in Kampong Rimba at 4am, on September 30.
Sometime between October 6 and 7, the defendant trespassed into the Live Gallery building on Jalan Pasir Berakas, for theft.
He also trespassed into a house at Tasek Garden, Lambak, for theft at 3am, on October 12.
On October 12, he committed housebreaking by night for theft at Kampong Rimba. He also trespassed into a house at Kampong Lambak Kanan at 3am on October 16, for theft.
Police investigations into these thefts led to the defendant’s arrest, on October 18.
