Malaysian jailed for illegal entry, trespassing

A MALAYSIAN man was sentenced by the Magistrate’s Court to jail for one year and one month after he pleaded guilty to entering the country illegally, being a person who had been barred from entering, and resided in the country illegally, and trespassing into a house in Tutong District for theft.

Muhammad Amin bin Zabidi, 27, trespassed into a house at Kampong Kandang, Tutong with intentions to commit theft at 8.55pm on November 15, 2018.

His arrest for trespassing for theft shed light on his immigration status and further investigations unearthed his contravention to immigration laws of the country.

Magistrate Dewi Norlelawati binti Haji Abdul Hamid took into account the defendant’s clear record and his instant guilty plea when considering the sentence.

DPP Nur Eleana binti Dato Paduka Haji Hairol Arni prosecuted the case.
