Malaysian cartoonist shares tips

The Language and Literature Bureau (DBP) organised the Cartoon Demonstration with Joy Cartoonist from Malaysia, at Green Room 4 of the Indoor Stadium of Hassanal Bolkiah National Sports Complex, yesterday, as part of the activities of Brunei Book Festival 2020.

Over 20 participated in the demonstration workshop to learn further on how to draw creative cartoons from experienced and professional cartoonists.

Library Officer at the DBP Hajah Noreidah binti Haji Ibrahim said that the workshop aimed to expose locals and gain experience through the sharing session as well as learn the techniques used to create a good cartoon. She shared that most of the participants were staff members of DBP interested in cartoon and those whose work are related in creating cartoon.

Zulseiri Azhar better known as Joy Cartoonist said he has been passionate about cartoon since he was still in school.

“I was actively involved in sending and creating my cartoons to magazines in Malaysia, and since then, I started to get involved in doing more cartoons in various agencies such as Anak-Anak Sidek, Koko Krunch advertisement and others,” he said.

Joy also said that he has also been involved in caricature for 10 years and during the festival, he received an overwhelming response from Bruneians.
