Malaysia rejects former Prime Minister’s new political party’s application

KUALA LUMPUR (CNA) – An application to register a new political party led by former Malaysian prime minister Mahathir Mohamad has been rejected, said the party’s lawyer Mior Nor Haidir Suhaimi yesterday.

The Registrar of Society (ROS) rejected the application of Parti Pejuang Tanah Air (Pejuang) because it was improperly done, said Mior Nor Haidir, adding that an appeal may be in the works.

“I’m waiting for further instruction from my client as they probably want to appeal to the Home Ministry,” he told reporters after the proceeding before High Court Judge Mariana Yahya.
