Malaysia records 1,153 new COVID-19 cases

KUALA LUMPUR (XINHUA) – Malaysia reported 1,153 new COVID-19 infections, the health ministry said yesterday, bringing the national total to 91,969.

Health Ministry Director-General Noor Hisham Abdullah said in a press statement two of the new cases are imported and 1,151 are local transmissions.

One new death has been reported, pushing the death toll to 433.

Another 998 patients have been released after recovery, bringing the total cured and discharged to 76,242, or 82.9 per cent of cases.

Of the remaining 15,294 active cases, 112 are being held in intensive care units and 56 of those are in need of assisted breathing.
