HIS Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam conferred state decorations on 15 individuals during the Audience and Investiture Ceremony at the Balai Singgahsana Indera Buana of Istana Nurul Iman yesterday.
Her Majesty Duli Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Hajah Saleha binti Al-Marhum Pengiran Pemancha Pengiran Anak Haji Mohamed Alam also graced the ceremony held in conjunction with His Majesty’s 73rd birthday celebration.
Also present at the ceremony were His Royal Highness Prince Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah, the Crown Prince and Senior Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office, and Her Royal Highness Paduka Seri Pengiran Anak Isteri Pengiran Anak Sarah binti Pengiran Haji Salleh Ab Rahaman; His Royal Highness Prince ‘Abdul Malik and Yang Amat Mulia Pengiran Anak Isteri Pengiran Raabi’atul ‘Adawiyyah binti Pengiran Haji Bolkiah; His Royal Highness Prince ‘Abdul Mateen; His Royal Highness Prince ‘Abdul Wakeel; His Royal Highness Prince Mohamed Bolkiah and Her Royal Highness Pengiran Anak Isteri Pengiran Anak Hajah Zariah; His Royal Highness Prince Haji Sufri Bolkiah and Yang Amat Mulia Pengiran Bini Hajah Faizah binti Dato Haji Nasir; and His Royal Highness Prince Haji Jefri Bolkiah.
The ceremony also saw in attendance Her Royal Highness Princess Hajah Rashidah Sa’adatul Bolkiah; Her Royal Highness Princess Hajah Majeedah Nuurul Bolkiah; Her Royal Highness Princess Hajah Hafizah Sururul Bolkiah; Her Royal Highness Princess ‘Azemah Ni’matul Bolkiah; Her Royal Highness Princess Fadzilah Lubabul Bolkiah; Her Royal Highness Princess Ameerah Wardatul Bolkiah; Her Royal Highness Princess Hajah Masna, Ambassador-at-Large at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs; Her Royal Highness Princess Hajah Nor’ain; Her Royal Highness Princess Hajah Amal Umi Kalthum Al-Islam as well as other members of the royal family.
The ceremony began with a titah by His Majesty, followed by the presentation of state decorations.
The Most Exalted Order of Paduka Keberanian Laila Terbilang First Class (DPKT) that gives the recipient the title of ‘Dato Paduka Seri’ was conferred on two recipients: Commissioner of the Royal Brunei Police Force (RBPF) Dato Paduka Seri Haji Mohammad Irwan bin Haji Hambali; and Chief of Defence Force of the Singapore Armed Forces Lieutenant-General Dato Paduka Seri Melvyn Ong Su Kiat.
Three recipients were conferred the Most Gallant Order of Pahlawan Negara Brunei (PSPNB), carrying the title ‘Dato Seri Pahlawan’, namely: Deputy Commissioner of the RBPF Pengiran Dato Seri Pahlawan Haji Mohd Jefri bin Pengiran Haji Abdul Hamid; Commander of the Royal Brunei Navy (RBN) First Admiral Dato Seri Pahlawan Haji Othman bin Haji Suhaili @ Suhaily; and Joint Force Commander of the Royal Brunei Armed Forces (RBAF)Brigadier General (U) Dato Seri Pahlawan Mohammad Sharif bin Brigadier General (Rtd)Dato Paduka Haji Ibrahim.
The Most Honourable Order of Seri Paduka Mahkota Brunei First Class (SPMB) which carries the title ‘Dato Seri Paduka’ was bestowed upon four recipients: Attorney General Dato Seri Paduka Haji Hairol Arni bin Haji Abdul Majid; Chief Justice of the Brunei Supreme Court Dato Seri Paduka Steven Chong Wan Oon; Deputy Minister of Finance and Economy (Economy) Dato Seri Paduka Dr Haji Abdul Manaf bin Haji Metussin; and Deputy Minister of Development Dato Seri Paduka Haji Marzuke bin Haji Mohsin.
The Most Honourable Order of Seri Paduka Mahkota Brunei Second Class (DPMB) which carries the title ‘Dato Paduka’ was conferred on two recipients: Senior Assistant Chief of Adat Istiadat Negara Dato Paduka Awang Razali bin Haji Badar; and Dato Paduka Paul Laverty from the United Kingdom.
The Most Eminent Order of Islam Brunei Third Class (SSUB) was conferred on Superintendent of Religious Education at the Islamic Studies Department, Ministry of Religious Affairs Hajah Hamdiah binti Haji Salleh.
Three recipients were conferred the Most Blessed Order of Setia Negara Brunei Third Class (SNB): Rector of Universiti Islam Sultan Sharif Ali (UNISSA) Dr Haji Norarfan bin Haji Zainal; Deputy Permanent Secretary (Professional) at the Ministry of Health Dr Haji Zulaidi bin Haji Abdul Latif; and Acting Director-General of Medical and Health Services Pengiran Dr Haji Mohd Khalifah bin Pengiran Haji Ismail.
A Doa Selamat was read by State Mufti Pehin Datu Seri Maharaja Dato Paduka Seri Setia (Dr) Ustaz Haji Awang Abdul Aziz bin Juned to bless the ceremony upon conclusion.
The event also saw the presence of special guests of His Majesty, including: Yang Di-Pertua of Sarawak Tun Dato Laila Utama Pehin Sri Dr Haji Abdul Taib bin Mahmud and spouse; Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance of the Republic of Singapore Heng Swee Keat and spouse; Secretary of Finance of the Republic of the Philippines Carlos Garcia Dominguez III and spouse; Minister of Economic Affairs of Malaysia Dato’ Seri Mohamed Azmin bin Ali and spouse; Sabah Chief Minister Datuk Seri Panglima Haji Mohd Shafie bin Haji Apdal and spouse; and Deputy Chief Minister, Minister of Industrial and Entrepreneur Development and Second Minister for Urban Development and Natural Resources of Sarawak Datuk Amar Haji Awang Tengah bin Ali Hassan and spouse.
Yesterday’s ceremony also saw the presence of Yang Amat Mulia Pengiran-Pengiran Cheteria, Cabinet Ministers, members of the Legislative Council (LegCo), deputy ministers, Pengiran-Pengiran Peranakan, Manteri-Manteri Hulubalang, members of the Diplomatic Corps, permanent secretaries and senior government officials.
