His Majesty attends Yayasan’s Hari Raya event

HIS Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, consented to attend the 16th Hari Raya Aidilfitri celebration organised by Yayasan Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah, at the International Convention Centre (ICC) in Berakas, yesterday.

Accompanying His Majesty were His Royal Highness Prince Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah, the Crown Prince and Senior Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office; His Royal Highness Prince ‘Abdul Malik, Chairman of the Yayasan Committee of Governors; His Royal Highness Prince ‘Abdul Mateen; His Royal Highness Prince Haji Sufri Bolkiah; His Royal Highness Prince Haji Jefri Bolkiah; and Her Royal Highness Princess Hajah Masna, Ambassador-at-Large at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs

Upon arrival, His Majesty was greeted by Yang Amat Mulia Pengiran Indera Setia Diraja Sahibul Karib Pengiran Anak Haji Idris bin Pengiran Maharaja Lela Pengiran Muda Abdul Kahar, the Deputy Chairman I of the Yayasan Committee of Governors; State Mufti Pehin Datu Seri Maharaja Dato Paduka Seri Setia (Dr) Ustaz Haji Awang Abdul Aziz bin Juned, the Deputy Chairman II of the Yayasan Committee of Governors; Minister of Home Affairs Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Kerna Dato Seri Setia (Dr) Haji Awang Abu Bakar bin Haji Apong; and Minister of Religious Affairs Pehin Udana Khatib Dato Paduka Seri Setia Ustaz Haji Awang Badaruddin bin Pengarah Dato Paduka Haji Awang Othman as members of Yayasan Committee of Governors.

Also on hand to welcome the royal arrivals were Minister of Defence II Pehin Datu Lailaraja Major General (Rtd) Dato Paduka Seri Haji Awang Halbi bin Haji Mohd Yussof, the Chairman of the Yayasan Board of Directors; and Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office and the Minister of Finance and Economy II Dato Seri Setia Dr Awang Haji Mohd Amin Liew bin Abdullah, as the Deputy Chairman of Yayasan Board of Directors.

The ceremony began with the recitation of the Doa Selamat by the State Mufti.

This was followed with a welcoming speech by Pehin Datu Lailaraja Major General (Rtd) Dato Paduka Seri Haji Awang Halbi, who expressed the hope of introducing agricultural producers to the relevant entrepreneurs, wholesalers and catering businesses, to boost the market for local agricultural produce.

The ceremony continued with His Majesty delivering a titah for the occasion.

This was followed with several stage performances by kindergarten, primary and secondary students from Yayasan Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah schools.

For all those present, the main highlight of the celebration was a Junjung Ziarah and get-together with His Majesty and other members of the royal family.

His Majesty and other members of the royal family consented to visit an exhibition set up at the International Convention Centre, featuring farmers, fishermen, industries, entrepreneurs and individuals involved in the development of agriculture, agrifood, fisheries and forestry in keeping with the chosen theme ‘Agricultural Sector: The Survivability of the Nation’.

The exhibitors also included youth and students involved in the field of agriculture, in addition to several agencies actively supporting the agricultural sector.

The selection of this year’s exhibitors is in conformity with His Majesty’s titah in spurring the growth of the agricultural sector towards a more dynamic and sustainable economic development for Brunei Vision 2035.

Yang Amat Mulia Pengiran-Pengiran Cheteria, Cabinet Ministers, deputy ministers, Legislative Council members, permanent secretaries, deputy permanent secretaries, and invited guests were also present.
