Individuals who had tested positive for COVID-19 and are in home quarantine, need to stay isolated from the rest of the household, said Minister of Health Dato Seri Setia Dr Haji Mohd Isham bin Haji Jaafar in a press conference yesterday.
The minister said primary close contacts living in the same household of a positive case are permitted to go out if their antigen rapid test (ART) result is negative for COVID-19 in the five-day quarantine period, even if the original positive case continues to test positive.
However, this requires the positive case to not break isolation.
“If the person has indeed been isolated in a room only, and their food is prepared outside the room (along with compliance with other health protocols), then the others can go out on the fifth day,” said the minister.
Dato Seri Setia Dr Haji Mohd Isham said when an individual first tests positive for COVID-19, they must immediately self-isolate. Other family members will then have to thoroughly disinfect contacted areas with a cleaning agent.
