Luxury, power and precision

Eyeing a luxury SUV that is sporty and precise with a clear and contemporary design? Say ‘hello’ to the third generation of Porsche Cayenne, a successful model that combines the typical Porsche performance with excellent everyday practicality.

The third generation of the Porsche Cayenne 2019 – brought in by QAF Eurokars, the official importer and dealer of Porsche vehicles in the Sultanate – is a completely new development and is visually enhanced.

QAF Eurokars recently invited local media to take the wheel of the Porsche Cayenne and feel the performance of the energetic vehicle on a drive from Tarindak D’Seni to Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Hajah Saleha (RIPAHS) Bridge in the capital.

My first impression of the car was its versatility, with a perfect exterior suitable for individuals with quality-taste and are opting for masculine and innovative features.

Driving the 2.9-litre V6 biturbo engine, the Porsche SUV proves that it can speed like a sports car. It can reach up to 340hp with its powerful turbo engine and new eight-speed Tiptronic S gearbox.

Throughout the test drive it was impressive with a splendid throttle, even with minimum pressing of the acceleration pedal where it was only on ‘standard’ mode.

The Porsche Cayenne combines Porsche performance with excellent practicality

As I drove towards RIPAHS Bridge, I changed the driving mode from ‘Standard’ to ‘Sport’ mode. The difference was quite noticeable, where the throttle become more resonant and even more powerful.

I was only driving about 70km/h, and I could sense the vehicle’s flow of energy, showing that it can be more aggressive, and it was as I turned on the ‘Sport’ mode, with stable handling and cornering without any difficulty.

During the cornering manoeuvres, I did not have to over push the braking pedal. I was able to control the wheel which made the driving experience memorable.

As I reached the pit stop area, we changed drivers and I became the passenger as we hit the road again and went back to Tarindak D’Seni. This time, my media colleague tried the Sport Plus mode.

In the Sport Plus mode, he drove about 100km/h on the highway. The sound of the throttle was highly impressive and even better than the ‘Sport’ mode, as it was more powerful and aggressive.

He took extra caution while driving as it was during peak hour, but we managed to try all the modes installed in the Porsche Cayenne.

With the all-immense power the vehicle delivered throughout the test drive, I am sure that it is one of the best SUVs, with safety features, braking control, the Night Vision Assist with a thermal imaging camera, Lane Change Assist, Lane Keeping Assist as well as Park-Assist that are all worthy of praise.

All these features made my whole driving experience even better and gave me confidence to drive even during a long journey.

The public can head down to the Porsche showroom to take a closer look at the exterior and interior of the Porsche Cayenne.
