Luxury cars with Brunei licence plates seized in Sarawak

MORE than 10 luxury vehicles bearing Brunei licence plates were seized by the Sarawak Royal Malaysian Customs Department on July 11, according to the Malaysian news daily, The Borneo Post.

Sources from the Sarawak Royal Malaysian Customs Department confirmed that the raid did take place but refused to provide any further information.

The story first surfaced on the MySarawak (My Sarawak Insight) social media which claimed that the raid was conducted at the residences of a few local businessmen and prominent figures in Kuching.

During the raid, various models of supercars manufactured by Ferrari, Lamborghini and Mercedes-Benz were seized by the department, with an estimated tax value that could be worth millions in Malaysian currency.
