LOYALTY towards the sovereign and the country is in conformity with the teachings of Ahli Sunnah WalJamaah, and in being obedient and respectful towards authority.

This was highlighted in a special talk by Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office Dato Seri Setia Haji Awang Abdul Mokti bin Haji Mohd Daud during the Semarak Hari Keputeraan programme.

It was organised by the Information Department in honour of the 73rd birthday celebration of His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam.

In his special lecture, the minister also described the role of a sovereign ruler as the country’s central pillar.

“All leaders must carry out the responsibilities that have been entrusted to them, and they are to be guided always by the dictates of Allah the Almighty and His Prophet,” he said.

“We must always be thankful to Allah the Almighty for bestowing upon us a sovereign and leader who is responsible, caring, solicitous and thoughtful towards the people. His Majesty’s leadership reflects a noble character in his concern and care for the welfare of his subjects.

“Indeed, His Majesty’s leadership focusses on all aspects of kindness and well-being. His Majesty’s leadership, through an approach in global development and sustainable leadership, meets the requirements of Maqasid as-Syariah (goals or objectives of Syariah) that are mainly aimed at conserving the five fundamental pillars for the well-being and peace of all humanity, such as upholding religion, life, intellect, dignity and wealth.”
