Ten fire personnel from Jerudong Fire Station Operation ‘F’ Branch, led by DSO Serudin bin Haji Osman, responded to a vehicle fire on Muara-Tutong Highway after receiving a distress call at 11.09am on Tuesday.
The firefighters found a pick-up lorry engulfed in flames by the side of the road and worked to extinguish the fire, which was brought under control within five minutes.
The cause and estimated damage are under investigation.
The FRD advised the public to ensure that their vehicles are in good working condition and to regularly check the wiring system. The public is also urged to inspect their vehicles for any leakage from the pump that could cause flammable liquid to be ignited from the engine block or electrical system.
Road users must ensure that modifications or additions to the electrical system of the engine and car accessories meet the standards set by the authorities, adding that a sudden increase in electric flow could cause cables to burn.
