Long service awards for 164 BSJV employees

Brunei Shell Joint Venture (BSJV) honoured the personal and professional accomplishments of 164 long term employees of the BSJV companies in a ceremony at The Rizqun International Hotel Gadong yesterday.

Managing Director of Brunei Shell Petroleum (BSP) and Shell Country Chair in Brunei Darussalam Agnete Johnsgaard-Lewis, Managing Director of Brunei LNG (BLNG) Hajah Farida binti Dato Seri Paduka Haji Talib and Managing Director of Brunei Shell Marketing (BSM) Muhammad Norshafiee bin Dato Paduka Haji Abdul Jalil led the event.

Members of the leadership teams of the BSJV Companies also attended.

Johnsgaard-Lewis highlighted the importance of resilience, care and dedication.

She further reminded the audience that even though the situation is better today in-country, we should not forget how we rallied and fought when Brunei was first hit by the pandemic.

“Under the strong leadership of His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam and His Majesty’s government, we all played and continue to play our part in Brunei’s fight against COVID-19. Through our combined efforts we have together ensured that Brunei is free from community transmission for over a year. And importantly, through all of it, we have continued to keep the lights on for the country. Each and every one of us should be proud of this,” she said.

She also emphasised that BSJV has come a long way in the area of Bruneianisation and cited that BSJV has more local leaders today than it did decades ago, who are dedicated in their duties, and passionate in making change and continuing to fuel Brunei.

“And we will continue to ensure there is a pool of young Bruneians that will in the future take on your roles and lead the companies to greater heights. In 2020, we awarded 33 students scholarships through the BSJV Scholarship scheme for them to further their studies. Through world-class developmental opportunities, internationally accredited competency frameworks and on-the-job training, these scholars will have opportunities to grow and shape their careers and ultimately the future of the company,” she added.

Agnete concluded her speech by congratulating and expressing gratitude to recipients and their family for all of their efforts and contribution throughout the years.

The highlight of event was the presentation of the long-service emblems to the recipients.
