Petrol stations nationwide had long queues a day or two ahead of the Hari Raya celebration as most fuel stations will be closed today.
Long lines were seen as early as Wednesday evening when the result of the moon sighting was announced. According to motorists surveyed by the Bulletin, most said they did not want to wait until the next day to fill up their tanks since the queues might be even longer.
They also said the time saved waiting in the queue yesterday could be used to get ready for the month-long Hari Raya Aidilfitri that starts today.
Brunei Shell Marketing Company Sdn Bhd (BSM) extended the operating hours yesterday to allow customers to buy petrol for their vehicles early.
According to BSM, 18 filling stations will operate on the first day of Hari Raya.
The 18 retail stations open today are: IBA Lambak Kanan, Tumasek Jalan Tutong, Amanah Kampong Kilanas, KUPB Kampong Jangsak, SATENAGA Kampong Tanjong Nangka and Berakas filling stations for the Brunei-Muara District; PAKATAN Jalan Enche Awang, KODRAT Kampong Lamunin, KOPEKLAP Kampong Lubok Pulau and Telisai filling stations in Tutong District; HANAS Kampong Peramu and Negalang Maju Kampong Negalang in Temburong District; and Lumut, KPPM Seria, ROXANA Seria, SPM Jalan Panglima and Sungai Teraban filling stations in Belait District.
Some 32 petrol stations will operate tomorrow and more the day after. The list of stations is available on BSM’s social media accounts.
