For two consecutive years, Universiti Islam Sultan Sharif Ali (UNISSA) continues to steer towards refined excellence securing a spot in the top 201-300 position in the World University Rankings for Innovation (WURI).
The ranking system was led by the Institute for Policy and Strategy on National Competitiveness (IPSNC), South Korea in collaboration with four international organisations including Hanseatic League of Universities (HLU); the Institute for Industrial Policy Studies (IPS); the United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR); and Taylor Institute, Franklin University Switzerland (FUS).
As a new higher learning institution, the recognition is testament that UNISSA provides innovative and competitive programmes especially at international level.
UNISSA’s position in the WURI 2023 is hoped to spur its commitment in providing positive impact in the ummah development through its academic excellence, research and community service.
According to the report, 1,189 innovative programmes from 423 universities globally participated in the fourth edition of the recognition.
These universities were evaluated based on three main criteria – innovation, feasibility and impact.
The majority of the programmes in WURI 2023 were related to issues such as the COVID-19 pandemic, mental health, sustainability and natural disaster. – Rokiah Mahmud
