Universiti Islam Sultan Sharif Ali (UNISSA), through the Centre for the Promotion of Knowledge and Language (PPIB), has been for the first time invited to co-organise the 8th International Conference on Social Sciences and Humanities (PASAK 8) 2023. The conference’s theme is ‘Implementation of values in the face of digitalisation’.
The conference is organised by the Islamic University of Selangor’s Centre for Core Studies (PPTUIS) and jointly organised by the PPIB-UNISSA, Sultan Abdul Halim Mu’adzam Shah International Islamic University (UniSHAMS), National Defence University of Malaysia (UPNM), Ushuluddin Adab and Dakwah Faculty (IAIN) Indonesia, Arabic Language Education Department, Postgraduate (UIN) Antasari Banjarmasin Indonesia, Davao Oriental State University (DORSU), Philippines; Yala Rajabhat University of Thailand (YRU), Princess of Naradhiwas University (PNU), Malaysian Muslim Scholars and Scholars Organisation (ILMAN).
The presenters comprised academic staff, researchers, and higher education professionals in Malaysia, Brunei Darussalam, Indonesia, Thailand, the Philippines, and others. Five speakers from UNISSA presented their papers physically and online.
The organisation of PASAK 8 aims to provide a platform and opportunity for experts from various fields to discuss academic research related to the social sciences and humanities.
The presentation also focussed on humanitarian issues in the Islamic world, including the right to live in peace and have access to the basic needs of life.
Meanwhile, a plenary session was held, with seven panel members from local and foreign institutions making presentations.
One of the panel members in the plenary session was the Director of the Centre for the Advancement of Knowledge and Language, UNISSA Dr Supri Haji Sudin who is also the Co-Director of PASAK 8.
The conference held on May 10 and 11 was officiated by Rector of UIS, Associate Professor Dato’ Dr Haji Mohd Farid Ravi Abdullah.
The keynote speech was delivered by Vice Chancellor of the Islamic Sciences University of Malaysia (USIM), Professor Dr Zulkiple Abdul Ghani.
PASAK has produced proceedings, e-proceedings, and books at each conference from 2006 until 2022.
