A LOCAL man was recently sentenced to two months’ imprisonment by the Magistrate’s Court for misappropriating a drill set with its charger.
The defendant, Awangku Muhd Khairul Anuar bin Pengiran Haji Bakar, had sought the help of ‘A’ to fix his house window. ‘A’ borrowed the drill set with its charger from its owner on the afternoon of December 1, 2018. But on completing the job, ‘A’ forgot to bring the drill set and the charger with him. He called the defendant to ask if he had left the drill behind. When the defendant replied in the affirmative, ‘A’ said that he would be returning again to collect it.
However, when ‘A’ came to claim the drill a few days later, the defendant said he had already sold off the drill set, along with its charger. This prompted a police report, which led to the defendant’s arrest.
DPP Affyian Abdul Rahman prosecuted the case, which was presided over by Magistrate Hajah Noor Amalina binti Dato Paduka Haji Alaihuddin.
