IN ENFORCING the Chapter 30, Section 12 of the Minor Offences Act, the Enforcement Division of the Kuala Belait and Seria Municipal Board issued a compound fine to a local.
Chong Choon Sai received a compound fine BND100 for irresponsibly disposing trash comprising items originating from the resident’s kitchen, to a public area not designated as a bin centre near the Gerai Bunga Simpur eatery area in Kuala Belait.
Chong Choon Sai was given seven days to settle the fine, and failing to do so will result in matters being taken to court, and if found guilty, a BND1,000 fine or a month’s imprisonment will be imposed for the first convicted offence. For a subsequent offence, the punishment will be a BND3,000 fine or imprisonment of not more than three months.
The Enforcement Unit of the Kuala Belait and Seria Municipal Board reminded the public and business owners to comply with rules and regulations under the Minor Offences Act and properly dispose trash at designated areas to ensure the cleanliness of the environment.
