TWO local men who pleaded guilty to a charge of auto theft were jailed for one year by the Magistrate’s Court recently.
According to DPP Nor’adliatul Hidayah binti Haji Mohd Zaidi’s statement of facts, Pengiran Samrulaspawi Nizam bin Pengiran Haji Ibrahim, 41, and Raduan bin Japar, 33, were walking around the capital during the early morning of December 17, 2017, looking for a car for their transport to get back home.
Once they arrived at Jalan Roberts, they saw a vehicle and stole it.
They left the area in the stolen car, headed towards Kampong Sungai Kebun and left the car there.
The next day, the duo used the vehicle to look for coconuts. After they were done with their activities, they left the vehicle at Kampong Sungai Asam.
On December 17, 2017, the vehicle owner who discovered his vehicle had gone missing, lodged a police report.
With the help of public information, the police recovered the vehicle from Kampong Sungai Asam on December 26, 2017.
The defendants were arrested on January 6, 2018.
