Local detained for smuggling meat, plants

Police personnel detained a local man aged 33 at the cemetery area of Kampong Negalang, Temburong District for allegedly smuggling contraband into the country.

Police personnel from Bangar Police Station, Royal Brunei Police Force (RBPF) in the area of Jalan Labu, Kampong Negalang, found a suspicious vehicle during a patrol, according to the RBPF.

Police personnel followed the vehicle and stopped it to carry out an inspection. Thirty boxes of frozen meat of Allana brand weighing 20 kilogrammes per box and 64 small pots containing plants behind the passenger seat and bonnet were found. It is believed that the plants were brought in without a permit.

Police personnel also uncovered a plastic packet containing crystals believed to be controlled drugs and tools.

The seized items were brought to Bangar Police Station.

The case has been handed to the Royal Customs and Excise Department and Narcotics Control Bureau for investigation.
